IRCA CERTIFIED SOCIAL SYSTEMS LEAD AUDITOR COURSE (BASED ON SA 8000, ETI AND RELATED TO CODE OF CONDUCT ETC)
Course Description: There are many social management system worldwide, like ETI, SA 8000, WRAP, ICTI etc. All of the above requirment sets out auditable provisions specific to child labor, forced labour, health and safety, trade union rights, discrimination, disciplinary practices, compensation, working hours and the management system. SGS is the first Social System accredited Certification Body in the world. It has taken the lead in the development of Soical System Standard. It has also conducted thousands of independent audits against the requirements of Social System, as well as codes of conduct of companies such as Avon, Disney and McDonald’s.
This approved course is delivered by SGS approved tutors, and has been running worldwide. In Hong Kong and China, we have hundreds of delegates from the toys & gifts industry, textile & garments, retailers, agents/suppliers, factories and consultant firms.
At the end of this course, participants will
- Understand the background to the social responsibility movement in the market place;
- Be aware of the “drivers” behind all stakeholders;
- Have learned about the Social System Standard criteria and be able to interpret them in specific situations;
- Understand the role of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and third parties;
- Be able to manage an independence and comprehensive a social accountability audit
Course Content:
- Social and ethical issues facing organizations
- Social conventions, specifications and codes
- The requirements of SA 8000 / ETI Base Code
- Specific social systems auditing skills and approaches
- How to plan, conduct and report the audit of an entire social systems management system
- Certification/registration issues
The course concludes with a two-hour exam and delegates are subject to continuous assessment throughout the course. On successful completion of the course, participants will have met the training requirements for registration as a Social Systems Lead Auditor with IRCA.
This course is aimed at all those involved or with an interest in the field of social accountability, particularly those with a responsibility for supply chain monitoring. Ideally, delegates will already have some experience of auditing quality, environmental or health and safety issues.

- Set up and/or implement the Social Systems / Conduct 3rd party Social System audit
- Understand the Social System for further planning and action in order to meet the needs of customers
- Carry out audit for suppliers/vendors and/or their own companies’ Social System
Who should attend: Approved tutor of SGS and SA 8000 Lead Auditor
Certification: Delegate who successfully completed the course and passed the examination will be issued a certificate of successful completion by IRCA. Successful delegates will meet the training requirements for the IRCA Social Systems Auditor Certification Scheme (details on the IRCA website www.irca.org)
