Sales Promotion for CPSIA Lead and Phthalates Testing
We are pleased to announce that the SGS Hong Kong laboratory has been accredited by the CPSC to conduct lead testing on children products.
Under the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA), new chemical substance requirements were enacted on 14 August, 2008. Lead containing paint and lead in substrates are banned in all children’s products in order to prevent children from being poisoned from eating or licking any lead-containing products.
In addition, phthalates DEHP, DBP, BBP are permanently banned and phthalates DINP, DIDP and DNOP are banned on an interim basis in toys for children and childcare articles.
The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 affects all manufacturers, importers and distributors of US consumer products, especially those designed for children. Manufacturers, importers and distributors shall certify that their products are complied with the CPSIA and all rules, bans, standards or regulations applicable to the product under the jurisdiction of the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
