REACH refers to the new European Union Regulation on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals and is a major overhaul of the EU’s chemical management regime.  Companies involved in supply chains exporting to Europe should be aware of REACH’s new requirements since compliance will be the key for these companies to remain present and competitive in the EU market.

The first REACH responsibilities, Pre-registration, begin on June 1, 2008, so it is critical that companies learn about the regulation.  REACH applies not only to chemical companies but to all sectors using chemicals. Electronic, electrical and telecommunication equipment, audio, IT products, household appliances are just few examples of sectors that will be impacted by REACH.
