The International Uniform Chemical Information Database (IUCLID) is an IT tool originally created by the European Chemicals Bureau (ECB) in 1993 for managing data of chemical substances to meet the requirements of the Council Regulation (EEC) 793/93 regarding the evaluation and control of the risks of existing substances. Regulation 793/93 is now repealed by the new European Chemical Regulation REACH (EC) 1907/2006, which regulates all chemicals manufacture, import, use and place in the European Community. REACH requires European Union (EU) manufacturers and importers to submit registration of their chemicals on its own, in preparation or in article to the Europe an Chemical Agency (ECHA). The submission of registration of chemical substances is through a new version of IT tool named IUCLID 5 which launches on June 12, 2007.
