SGS Becomes IKEA's First Third-Party Certifier in China and Asia

We are proud to inform you that since November 2009, SGS Hong Kong Ltd is the first testing laboratory to become IKEA’s Third Party Certifier (TPC) for composite wood formaldehyde testing in China and Asia. We can help IKEA’s vendor in complying with the worldwide formaldehyde regulations for wood products shipping to the international market. Earlier on, SGS has also earned the Third-Party Certifier (TPC) status from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for verification of composite wood products to ensure compliance with formaldehyde emission standards set forth in the California State Airborne Toxic Control Measure (ATCM).

In 2009, the SGS Certified AATCC Course Instructors are ready to deliver the AATCC International Training Course to the public. The course includes training on colorfastness, physical properties and fiber identification (qualitative). A total of 18 courses are scheduled in 8 designated locations.
09/02/09 Consumer Testing EU Finally Adopted GHS
EU has finally published the new regulation on the classification, labelling and packaging (CLP) of substances and mixtures ((EC) No. 1272/2008), which aligns EU legislation with GHS. Several important regulations, including REACH, have been amended due to the adoption of GHS. SDS and labeling requirements are now amended and SGS is now providing new service to help our clients to prepare SDS according to the new regulation.

Botulinum toxin (Botox) is a chemicals commonly used in anti-ageing treatment. This kind of anti-ageing treatment by dermal fillers become more and more popular in EU, and the number of treatment showing a dramatic increasing trend over the past few years. Recently, the General Medical Council of UK recommended that consumers must visit qualified doctors for Botox in order to ensure consumers are health enough to receive treatment, and to minimize the change to develop allergic reactions.
02/01/09 Life Science Warning to Health Products with Undeclared Ingredients
In Hong Kong, Proprietary Chinese Medicine (PCM) is regulated by Chinese Medicine Ordinance (Cap. 549). Products containing both Chinese and western medicines are regarded as pharmaceutical products, and should be registered and regulated under the Pharmacy and Poisons Ordinance (Cap. 138). Therefore, PCM must not be adulterated with pharmaceutical.
