SGS Becomes IKEA's First Third-Party Certifier in China and Asia

We are proud to inform you that since November 2009, SGS Hong Kong Ltd is the first testing laboratory to become IKEA’s Third Party Certifier (TPC) for composite wood formaldehyde testing in China and Asia. We can help IKEA’s vendor in complying with the worldwide formaldehyde regulations for wood products shipping to the international market. Earlier on, SGS has also earned the Third-Party Certifier (TPC) status from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for verification of composite wood products to ensure compliance with formaldehyde emission standards set forth in the California State Airborne Toxic Control Measure (ATCM).

In May, 2009, the CFS released a risk assessment report in regard to levels of aluminium in various food products in relation to the use of aluminium-containing food additives in local Hong Kong markets. Results revealed that high aluminium levels were found in steamed bun/cake, bakery products (muffins), pancake, waffle, coconut tart, cake, and ready-to-eat jellyfish. Adverse health implications from aluminum exposure include osteomalacia, reproductive toxicity, decreased growth, delayed maturation and impaired neurodevelopment.
