The CPSIA regulation was implemented on 14 August 2008, aiming at ensuring the safety of consumer products, especially those designed for children, under the age of 12. The CPSC has granted a 1-year stay of enforcement for testing and certification of certain children’s products subject to the CPSIA. The stay does not relieve the manufacturer or importer from the responsibility of ensuring that their products meet all applicable product safety requirements, including those covered by the stay of enforcement for testing and certification. Since the covered products still have to comply with the regulations as stated, the CPSIA regulation inevitably poses challenges to everyone that manufactures, imports, or distributes apparel, footwear and other children’s products into the United States. SGS is dedicated to offering you a comprehensive and cost-effective CPSIA product compliance program to ensure your children products fulfil the CPSIA requirements prior to shipment.
