Jan 2008 | Hong Kong International Toys Festival 2008 SGS was proud to be the premium sponsor of Hong Kong International Toys Festival, organized by Federation of Hong Kong Industries, Hong Kong Toys Council and Hong Kong Toys Manufacturers’ Association. A series of events were organized during the 4-day Toys Festival, which included a kick-off ceremony on the 6 January and a business forum with cocktail reception on the 8 January, both held at Centenary Garden, Tsim Sha Tsui East. A seminar on ‘Product Safety’ was held at Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre on 9 January, targeting international toy buyers and media attending TDC’s Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair. With a view to rebuilding the image of Hong Kong toy industry and restoring the confidence of international buyers from the recent product quality crisis, this event aimed at uniting the local toy industry players and its affiliated partners to make the festival a focus of attention from all over the world. Oct 2007 | ‘EuP Directive: Time to Get Prepared’ Forum 2007 The Forum was organized by SGS Hong Kong Limited and co-organized by the Hong Kong Electronic Industries Association and Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation, in our consolidated effort to get the industry prepared for this another shattering directive, after WEEE and RoHS. The EuP directive was adopted in July 2005 and Member States are supposed to transpose it into national laws by 11th August 2007. It creates a framework for the integration of various environmental aspects, such as: energy efficiency, hazardous substances, water consumption, and noise emissions into the design of Energy using Products (EuP). SGS invited 2 European researchers who were involved in the preparation studies 3-7 of the directives and they presented most up-to-date product specific information with respect to the preparation studies. |

Oct 2007 | Sports Source Asia 2007 SGS was invited by HKTDC to give a presentation at Sports Source Asia held at Asia World-Expo on 27 Oct 2007. In this seminar, SGS introduced how REACH has regulated chemicals manufactured, imported and used in EU, the kind of restricted substances that found in sportswear products and what relevant stakeholders should do to manage those chemicals in order to comply with REACH. |
