July 2008 | Concurrent Seminar on Latest Trend, updates on Product safety Directives and Prospect of Toys market at Summer Sourcing Show for Gifts, Houseware and Toys (organized by Hong Kong Trade Development Council) SGS delivered a keynote presentation on quality assurance trend in toys industry at this concurrent seminar organized by Hong Kong Trade Development Council, held at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 3 July 2008. At the presentation, we shared our in-depth professional knowledge on product safety trends, common pitfalls and risk management solutions with around 100 participants. |

May 2008 | The 2nd Lighting Design Competition (organized by Hong Kong Trade Development Council) SGS was proudly invited by Hong Kong Trade Development Council to deliver a worthwhile overview of safety and quality standards of lighting products and equipments at the briefing session of the 2nd Lighting Design Competition on 7 May. SGS was honoured to share the fundamental knowledge of common quality and safety practices with a group of promising young designers who were committed to assimilating the safety and quality concepts into their innovative designs. Our active participation in this briefing session further cemented our undisputed leading position in quality assurance industry. |

April 2008 | Sustainability and Greening Forum (co-organized by Business Environment Council) Toys and Hardgoods Department of SGS Hong Kong co-organized the Sustainability and Greening Forum with Business Environment Council on 21 April, 08, with concerted aim to enhance the awareness of the concept of “sustainability and greening across the supply chain” through environment issues. The Forum featured the local concern and new market trend in Corporate Social Responsibility, sustainable development & implementation plan, and the Quality control of Restricted Substances. |

April 2008 | Tools and Requirements under REACH - Capacity Building on the European REACH regulation for Chinese Industry Approaching the critical implementation date (June 1, 2008) of the European Union New Chemical Policy – REACH, the European Chemicals Bureau (ECB) organized a REACH capacity building seminar for Chinese small to medium size enterprises on April 15 and 16 in Nanjing, China. The main speaker of the event was Mr. Erik van de Plassche, who is currently the division head of biocides in the European Commission Joint Research Center. Dr. Dianna Poon, the REACH project manager of SGS South China, was also invited as one of the four technical experts introducing specific requirements of REACH with solutions to the participants. Being one of the speakers for the ECB event, SGS has demonstrated its professional recognition in the industry. |
