Does Your Product Contain Any of the 20 SVHC?


On September 1, 2009, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) officially announced the public consultation for 15 new potential Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs). After the consultation period, the ECHA Member States Committee will decide which SVHCs will be included in the official Candidate List as early as mid-December 2009.

Once these SVHCs are included in the Candidate List, article suppliers have to fulfill the duty of communication on articles containing >0.1 % (w/w) SVHC, as required by Article 33 of REACH Regulation (EC No. 1907/2006).

SGS Analytical Services

Some of the 15 new potential SVHCs are known to be present in consumer products. Lead compounds can be found in colored toy products, DIBP in plastic container products and 2,4-dinitrotoluene in products consisting of foam component.
